“Theresa Lowry Lehnen, RANP General Practice, independently managed 81.9% of all patient
appointments at the nurse-led SETU Carlow Medical Centre this year. She delivers
complete episodes of care including comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, prescribing,
treatment and management of illnesses, minor injuries, and chronic conditions, including
follow-up care. Her advanced clinical practice, and evidence-based decision-making have
significantly reduced the workload of visiting GPs and enhanced service efficiency within the medical centre.

This makes a real impact on many of the key challenges in
general practice and university health centres, and highlights the effectiveness and potential
of advanced nursing practice and nurse prescribing in primary care”.
