Sharing real life testimonials on Advanced Practitioners in Ireland – Shirley Ingram

Patient satisfaction with an advanced nurse practitioner (ANP) integrated community Chest pain
clinic, Tallaght University Hospital

“I wish to convey my gratitude to the ANP for her professional yet extremely empathetic approach which immediately put me at ease. Her thorough examination and explanation of all aspects of same throughout ensured I left the clinic fully informed of my proposed treatment plan”

“I was seen by the ANP, who put my mind at ease about chest discomfort I am experiencing a really good result for me.  I got more answers from this very knowledgeable nurse than I have previously got from other medical people I have been to see.”

“I honestly have to say that was by far the best and most professional and enlightening service that I have ever experienced through the HSE.”

Well done Shirley Ingram RANP in Tallaght.

Integrated community based care and ANP led care are new phenomena to the Irish patient. She explored patient satisfaction with the ANP led integrated community chest pain clinic. Some direct patient testimonials from the study (Ingram et al, 2022)

“The ANP that saw me on the day was so caring and passionate about her job, she made me feel
really comfortable and like I was extremely important and she reassured me so much my anxiety was a lot less when I left”

“The service should be better known in the community. I think this would encourage people to go to
GP about mild chest pain without the fear of being sent to A&E.”

Thanks for sharing your feedback Shirley. Happy Nurse Practitioner week to all our IAANMP members making a difference everyday to patients lives and improving access to healthcare
