With the theme “A Vision on the Advanced Practice Model of Care”, this year’s conference promises to be a dynamic day of learning, networking, and professional inspiration.

IAANMP 2025 Conference Agenda
A Warm Welcome and National Support
The day will begin with a welcome address from Ms Melissa Hammond, Chair of IAANMP and RANP, followed by an opening message from Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, who will join via video link. Their contributions will set the tone for a programme that highlights both the growth of advanced practice and its critical role in meeting Ireland’s healthcare needs.
Keynote Speakers: Clinical Leadership and Innovation
Delegates can look forward to an exciting line-up of keynote speakers throughout the day.
- Ms Olivia Smith, RANP, will discuss Clinical Competence, addressing the skills and standards that underpin excellence in advanced practice.
- Ms Anna Kiernan, RANP, will present on the Spark Programme and Advanced Practitioners Opportunities, sharing insights into leadership and innovation.
- Mr Steve Pitman, INMO Head of Education and Professional Development, will share insights on leadership and the evolving role of the Nurse Consultant.
- Mr Stephen Kelly, RANP and CEO of Precision Health, will focus on Innovation in Practice, exploring how technology and creativity are driving transformation in healthcare delivery.
Celebrating Excellence
A highlight of the morning will be the presentation of the IAANMP Bernie Carpenter Bursaries, awarded to Ms Sarah Daly (Respiratory RANP) and Ms Hannah Walsh (Emergency RANP) in recognition of their outstanding professional contributions.
Delegates will also have the chance to explore research and best practice during the poster exhibition, with opportunities to meet presenters and view projects shaping the future of advanced nursing and midwifery practice.
Panel Discussion: Meeting the Challenges Ahead
One of the most anticipated sessions will be the panel discussion on “Changing Healthcare to Meet Service Demand”, chaired by Ms Priscilla Lynch, Clinical Editor of The Medical Independent. The panel will feature leaders from regulation, academia, service management, and frontline practice, including Dr Ray Healy (NMBI), Prof Mark Whyte (Academia), Dr Geraldine Shaw (ONMSD Director), Kelly Mofflin (CNO office) and Ms Fiona Colbert (RANP). This interactive debate will explore how the advanced practice model can address rising service pressures while delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care. Expect robust debate, fresh ideas, and practical solutions.
Afternoon Highlights
The afternoon programme continues with:
- Ms Aoife Feeney presenting an Update on TCD Advanced Practice Research, showcasing the link between academic evidence and clinical practice.
- Mr Rory O’Connor, known from Rory’s Stories, who will share his personal journey as a mental health advocate. His session promises to be both powerful and uplifting, resonating with practitioners on a professional and personal level.
The day will close with the announcement of the poster competition winners, reflections from IAANMP Chair Melissa Hammond, and a special video message from former Minister for Health Mary Harney, who will share her perspective on the future of healthcare delivery.
