Clinical webinar : Chronic Kidney Disease :The practicalities

Pam is a Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner, working in Bray Co. Wicklow. Pam has been working in General Practice for the past 18 years. She initially trained as a Nurse in Tallaght hospital and then went on to complete her midwifery studies in the National Maternity Hospital in 2006.

Pam independently manages chronic disease including Cardiometabolic disease; Type II diabetes, Obesity and cardiovascular disease. She has a keen interest in preventative health, especially promoting cardiovascular and kidney health. Pam also has a role in providing low risk acute care to children and adults from 2 years. Pam is a member of the East Coast Area Diabetes Committee group and is also a member of their education subcommittee. She provides education concerning the management of Type II diabetes in primary care on their ‘Foundation Series’ Course for new General Practice Nurses, and nurses and doctors wishing to upskill in the community. Pam has also recently accepted an invitation to join the Association of the Study of Obesity Ireland committee group.

Pam is passionate about nursing. She strongly believes that Advanced Nurse Practice in General Practice has a massive influence in improving patient outcomes whilst also enhancing workforce capacity. Pam believes that true “Integration” of health will be predominantly Nurse-led, and it begins with breaking down barriers, promoting respect for each other and building communication links. When not working, Pam is at home with her husband Scott and her 2 children. She might also be found in the gym lifting weights, or perhaps walking her gorgeous dog Cooper.
